Un’altra mano di carte (Another hand of cards), the second album released by the band Limite Acque Sicure, in 2025, an Italian band active in Italian Progressive Rock since their debut with the self-titled album in 2022.
It is an excellent concept album that deals with themes tied to stories of marginalization or oppression, stories linked to the search (or dream) of a better life, stories of redemption and pride, with a feeling of hope but also of rebellion and its, sometimes bitter, consequences.
The band was born from a project by Andrea Chendi and Antonello Giovannelli, who are its founders, and then the other members joined the group, a project created to perform progressive rock songs live, which saw lineup changes over time, up to the current one active since 2016, through which the writing of original songs began and which led to the release of two works.

Basically this band managed to achieve the dream of many bands that start out with the aim of playing live shows performing covers, while keeping the ambition—the dream, in fact—of making their own work and making a name for themselves. I tried too, more than once, but probably not with the same consistency and determination, and certainly not with the same skill, judging by what I listened to and what I’m about to describe. With another hand of cards, they made it. Great!
The record consists of 6 tracks, all of considerable length, ranging from 7 to 10 minutes yet never long-winded, for a total running time of about 51 minutes.
Beautiful artwork that links each band member to a card that represents them.
I didn’t know Limite Acque Sicure and I’m glad I did. This record holds the roots and the present of Italian prog, but also international, plus the exciting elements of classic rock, and also major influences from classical music with piano, harp, flute and an almost operatic voice at times. The performance by all the band members is absolutely excellent and there’s a great balance of presence and sound. The compositions are crafted and thought out to blend melodic aspects with those aimed at the more complex progressive side.
I’ll keep following this band and I’ll definitely go listen to their debut album.
Highly recommended!
